Be the Cool Mom & Save!

It’s almost that time of year. The time when the same kids who couldn’t wait to be out of school for the summer begin complaining of a terrible, contagious disease called boredom. If you’re a mom, a nanny, an aunt or have ever been around kids, you know how serious it can be. In an effort to end the boredom, you search for ways to entertain the kiddos without breaking the bank, but it’s not always an easy thing to do!

Between the price of gas, movies and meals out, summer can get expensive. However, using rewards cards can earn you free or discounted items at your kids’ favorite places. Earn major cool points with your kids and save money by keeping your Card Cubby stocked with your favorite rewards cards all summer.

Check out these popular places that have rewards cards opportunities:

Dave & Busters

While they don’t have a typical rewards card, you can earn points on your Power Card by playing games, which you can use on everything from water guns to MP3 players. Keeping your Power Card in your Card Cubby will save you from paying a fee for a new Power Card (around $2) next time you go.

Orange Leaf

Earn one point for every one ounce you purchase, then get $1 back on your Ounce Back card for every 10 points you earn. Free frozen yogurt? Yes please.

AMC Theaters

AMC’s Stubs card program has a fee of $12 per year, but the rewards are pretty great. You’ll earn $10 for every $100 you spend, get free upgrades on concessions anytime and will always have the online ticket fee waived. Not too shabby.

Regal Cinemas

Earn one credit for every dollar spent on movie admissions, then use points for free movie tickets, popcorn and drinks. Plus, get access to $2 popcorn and candy discount days.

Library Card

If you read “Library card” and thought what a snore, think again! Most local libraries offer summer reading programs where your kids can earn prizes. Libraries are also known for having story time (great for the little ones) and fun classes (sign the older kids up pronto!). Not to mention, your child can have their own library card and store it in your Card Cubby so it never gets lost. (Plus, what’s cooler than you having the smartest child in the class this August?)

Everyone is searching for the perfect gift this holiday season, but you don’t want to break the bank doing it! Here are some great tips on how to get the gifts they want, while staying on budget.

1. Make your budget and gift list now, and stick to it!

There is nothing more expensive than going through a store throwing items into your cart you think your family might like. Make a list and keep an eye out for deals on those items.

2. Look for website promo codes

When looking online for deals, be sure to check a company’s social media for potential promotions they offer on free shipping or discounts with a particular coupon code!

3. Do online research

Price compare from the comfort of your own home before you head to the stores. It’s much easier, saves gas money and your budget.

4. Get No-Cost Holiday Shipping

Many companies (including Card Cubby!) are participating in National Free Shipping Day on December 17th.
Card Cubby Gives Back!

Card Cubby has reached out and donated to 3 great causes this fall, to support and promote a healthy lifestyle.

“By giving back this Fall, we are supporting our fellow community members fighting the good fight — the fight against disease and to stay healthy,” Card Cubby owner, Wendy Krepak said. “We always try to reach out to causes that touch our hearts, and that’s what we did.”

Card Cubby donated products to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Orlando Florida to help say thank you to the 45,000 walkers who raised almost $650,000 this year.

“It’s always great to see local businesses participate,” Making Strides Against Breast Cancer manager, Christy Clelland said. “It shows commitment to the community and the cause.”

Southside Medical Center Diabetes Education and Self-Management Program and Weight Management Program are located in an underserved area in Atlanta, GA, where diabetes has affected many in the community. The program actively tries to educate its patients about how to eat healthy on a budget.

“Each week, we provide coupons and instruct patients on how to obtain them,” registered nurse and licensed dietician at Southside Medical Center, Marsha Britton said. “We stress that keeping coupons with you is the number one goal to having a healthy and budget friendly diet.”

Card Cubby’s donation helps their patients keep track of coupons, loyalty and rewards cards. So not only are the patients eating healthy, but staying on budget too.

One loyal Card Cubby fan reached out to us to help her close friend, whose child was having medical issues, and their community pitched in to help.

“We have gotten many wonderful donations of gift cards for the family to use while they are staying at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN,” Rude said. “It would be great to fill a Card Cubby with these and deliver it to the Ulrich family to help keep them organized and in one place during this very stressful time.”

Card Cubby greatly appreciates our fans and that you’re all helping out those in your own communities! If you’d like to get involved this holiday season here are a few ideas how:

Card Cubby Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Card Cubby is joining the fight to increase awareness for the disease and to raise funds for research. About 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. In 2011, the American Cancer Society estimated that there would be 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women, and 2,140 new cases in men.

In order to help combat this disease, Card Cubby has teamed up with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. We’re donating 10% of proceeds from our Tickled Pink Croc Card Cubby and Rosetta Pink Croc Coupon Cubby to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. You can help fight this disease, and take 10% off of these two items for yourself too!

Ninety-five percent of new cases and 97% of breast cancer deaths occurred in women 40 years or older, making it paramount for women to have a yearly mammogram. The key to prevention is early diagnosis and providing greater access of services to all women and men affected by the disease. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer strives to unite communities of breast cancer survivors, raise awareness and take steps to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer. The money will help raise awareness and fund research the causes of breast cancer, prevention and early diagnosis, treatment and cure.

While the death rates have been going down, breast cancer is still one of the leading killers of women. Almost 40,000 women in the U.S. were expected to die last year due to breast cancer. Help women and men become cancer free by supporting Card Cubby and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Think pink with Card Cubby this October and donate to a cause that affects so many women and men across the country! Join your local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

Using it as a purse: Some have wristlets, straps and pockets to store your cellphone.
